Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you and welcome you as a member of our family. All paperwork is downloadable on this web site. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. We will provide you with an incredible tour of our office, and you will then have the opportunity to meet the Doctor.
Next you will have a consultation with Dr. Dennis Brown to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. The DC will determine at this time is further evaluation is needed to detect if subluxation is present. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Dennis Brown to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Dennis Brown will perform a complete chiropractic examination. Our exam includes a postural anaysis, a weight distribution test, palpation exam, a SEMG, and x-rays if needed. Your posture is the window to your spine, and looking here first will give us a lot of information about what is going on with your nervous system. Next the Doctor will perform a palpation exam of your spine. This is where he can actually feel if you have any misalignments in your spine known as subluxation. Once this important portion of the exam is complete, you will meet the chiropractic assistant. They will continue your exam with a review of your history. They will uncover any personal traumas you have experienced, as your trauma history will reveal the amount of subluxation that has occurred and how long it may have been present. They then will complete their portion of the exam with a computerized test known as a surface EMG. The SEMG is a tool used to detect even the tiniest misplaced bone causing subluxation in your spine, if there is pressure on a nerve. At this point the Doctor will return, and based on all exam findings he will decide if x-rays are needed. If needed they will be taken at this time. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get a full evaluation of a patient. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves. We do not x-ray patients that are pregnant or nursing, full disclosure of this is needed to prvide safety of the unborn child.
Report of Findings- Your next visit
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, Dr. Dennis Brown will give you a report of findings to answer these questions:
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better?
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Dennis Brown will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If Dr. Dennis Brown believes we can help you, you will recieve your first adjustment.
Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of the second appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. The Doctor will have you return the following day to go over how you responded to your first adjustment and review his best recommendation for care at that time. He will also offer his most cost effective method of payment at that visit, and requires your significant other is with you for support.
